Still Life in Oils – 18th May
Tutor: Guy Barkley-Smith
Date: 18th May
Time: 10.30 – 4.30
A day spent in the studio painting a classic still life subject which references Cézanne’s still life paintings, with, particular, reference to the iconic Still Life with Milk Jug and Fruit.
The day will start with a look at examples of classical, modernist and contemporary still life paintings, to see how, over the years, artists have interpreted still life subjects in many ways. We will see that accurate representation is not necessarily a factor we need be concerned with. We will spend time developing our ideas with attention given to composition, colour and texture.
Working with oil paints, we will create a still life which reflects our own unique and imaginative way of looking at our subject.
If for reasons beyond our control the class has to be cancelled, a full refund will be made.
