Discover the Landscape –
9th – 12th July
Tutor: Guy Barkley-Smith and Mark Corfield
Date: 9th – 12th July
Art Materials: included
Over the four days we will spend time outdoors to experience the stunning, inspirational, local Dorset landscape and coastline first hand and in the studio where we will develop our ideas. We will work en plein air, immersing ourselves in the environment, sketching and exploring our own personal feelings and interpretations, making notes and sketches to take back to the studio, to assist in the process of creating landscape paintings, using water-based paints, inks and mixed media, using a variety of mark making and drawing tools.
We will pay attention to the elements that make up a landscape, particularly perspective and viewpoint, light and dark, and composition, aiming to develop our own personal view of the landscape in our own individual style.
The course promotes a contemporary approach to its subject which involves incorporating abstract elements and the exploration of materials and process in a supported environment. It is suitable for beginners as well as those wanting to further develop their work.
A delicious packed lunch can be pre-ordered from Felicity's Farm Shop for an extra £10 per day when you book, alternitively bring a packed lunch with you! This will be a fun course where you can meet new people and enjoy the Dorset landscape (weather permitting!) at its best.
It the workshop is cancelled beyond our control, a full refund will be given.
