opportunity to discuss techniques with the Donna and acquire a unique insight into the
working process of a professional artist.

OIL ON ALUMINIUM

Donna Goold is an artist with a unique approach to capturing the beauty of local landscapes. Working primarily with oils on aluminium, she brings an intensity and vibrancy to scenes familiar to many, infusing them with her own vision and depth. The reflective quality of aluminium serves as a striking surface for her oils, allowing light to interact dynamically with her compositions, creating a sense of movement and immediacy in each piece. Her work on aluminium blends meticulous attention to detail with a sense of atmosphere, capturing the essence of the locations that inspire her.

ENCAUSTIC PAINTING

In addition to her oil paintings, Donna creates landscapes made entirely of wax, using the rich texture and translucency of this medium to evoke natural forms in a fresh, innovative way. Working with encaustic techniques, she layers and sculpts the wax to add dimension and tactility, making each landscape a uniquely immersive experience. The fluidity of wax allows her to blend colours seamlessly and build textures that mirror the organic layers found in nature, creating works that feel alive and constantly shifting.

Golden Cap: A Living Painting

Public Art Commission sited on The Heritage Centre, Charmouth

This artwork depicts Golden Cap, the highest point on England’s south coast, as seen from Charmouth beach.

It is painted on brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, metals found within the geology of the Jurassic Coast. When exposed to air, moisture, and touch, brass slowly forms a natural patina, causing its surface to darken and evolve over time. Like the cliffs themselves, nothing here is fixed.

The changing surface reflects the processes shaping this coastline; the erosion, weathering, and constant movement. In this way, the painting becomes a living landscape, continually responding to its environment.

A beautiful, high-quality Fine Art Print on Brushed Gold Aluminium of the ‘Golden Cap’ painting is available to purchase.
